About Sittingly
Sittingly is built and run by Ellul Solutions Ltd, a software company registered in England and Wales. It is a small product with one job, not a platform: the booking book of one independent restaurant, and keeping it findable. The free worksheet and the paid plan are made by the same people, and the worksheet is not a trial of the paid plan.
Why this site exists
Because the taking is the part everyone plans for and the keeping is the part that fails. A restaurant gets a diary, or a widget, or both, and then a Saturday goes wrong: a table is double sat, a party of eight is put on tables that do not join, four people do not arrive and nobody can say whether the same person did it last month. The bookings existed and the book did not. Sittingly exists so every booking is a party on a named table with a date and a person's name against it, and so a restaurant can see what its own room actually seats before it decides how many bookings to take.
Who it is for
It is for the person who owns the booking book in one independent restaurant, bistro, gastropub or cafe with tables, or a small group of two or three sites: the owner-operator, the general manager, or the front of house manager who sets the sittings, decides whether the party of eight fits and finds out at quarter past eight that a table of six is not coming.
It is not for a diner looking for somewhere to eat, the person choosing a till or building a menu, the chef running the kitchen and its stock, or the manager writing the rota. Each of those is a different job and other software is written for it.
What it does not do
- It lists no restaurants and sends you no diners. There is no marketplace here, no listing anyone paid to appear in, and no directory of anywhere to eat: this product is bought by the restaurant, not sold to the person eating in it.
- It gives no advice about whether your room is safe or lawful to fill to a given number. Where this site cites an occupancy figure it names the public document it read it in; what your premises may hold is decided by your own fire risk assessment and the people who enforce it.
- It never puts the free worksheet's answer behind a login, and it never charges you more because more people sat down.

What Sittingly Pro keeps
The worksheet tells you what the room seats. It cannot tell you, in March, that the same guest has not turned up three times. Pro keeps the book itself.
